“Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker is coming under fire from both flight attendants and pilots after he was shown on camera bragging about hiring young women to be flight attendants, while simultaneously mocking rivals for employing “grandmothers.”

Fox News reports that Al Baker made his remarks earlier this month during a speaking event in Dublin, Ireland, that was supposed to commemorate a new flight route between the Irish capital and Doha, Qatar.

“By the way, the average age of my cabin crew is only 26 years,” he said during his talk. “So there is no need for you to travel on these crap American carriers… You know you’re always being served by grandmothers on American airlines.”

The Association of Flight Attendants slammed Al Baker’s remarks earlier this week, while decrying them as sexist.

“Straight from Akbar Al Baker lips, he confirms what AFA has said all along: Qatar Airways thrives on misogyny and discrimination,” AFA President Sara Nelson wrote in response to the CEO’s statements.”
